NSW Dad’s Antidepressant Warning After Eight-year-old Son Tries to Take His Life

A NSW father says he wants to warn parents about the dangers of antidepressants after his eight-year-old son tried to take his own life twice while on the medication.
The Blue Mountains dad said the harrowing and deeply traumatic experience began when his eldest son, who was eight years old, was prescribed an antidepressant to treat his anxiety in 2015.
The intellectually-gifted boy was struggling with social situations, having meltdowns and had recently been diagnosed with mild autism.
A paediatrician then prescribed the boy the drug Sertraline, otherwise known as Zoloft, to treat his anxiety.
